Our Story

For over a decade, our family landscaping business has been shaped by a love for building exceptional retaining walls from natural quarry stone. We came to value the beauty, character, and permanence of real rock, but we also saw two growing challenges: quality stone was becoming harder to source, and building with it required highly specialized labour.

Drawing on years of experience in both natural stone masonry and decorative concrete, we created FormaRock to bring the character of real stone into precast form. By developing molds from natural rock faces, we set out to create products that carry the texture, colour, and presence of stone into blocks that can be produced consistently and built more simply.

FormaRock exists to create a better way to build rock-inspired walls.

The Iron Stone Series

The Iron Stone Series is FormaRock’s first product: a proprietary eight-block precast retaining wall system inspired by Kootenay iron stone from the Rocky Mountains of Southeast British Columbia.

Each block is designed to capture the look, texture, and visual weight of real quarry stone while delivering the consistency, durability, and efficiency of precast concrete. Textured faces, shaped tops, and stone-inspired colouring create a wall with depth, variation, and a more natural appearance.

Installed in a standardized pattern influenced by artisan stonework, the five-wall block configuration helps reduce repetition and break up long continuous joints, creating a wall face that feels more organic and less manufactured.

The result is a retaining wall system that brings the character of natural rock into a form that is more consistent to produce, simpler to stack, and built to last. It gives builders, homeowners, and producers a better way to create rock-inspired walls with the strength and reliability of precast concrete.
